Deepavali is nearing!!! :D

I am so elated that Deepavali is finally coming! I am very excited as i am inviting my friends to my house to celebrate. Let me tell you more about Deepavali...

Deepavali celebrate the return of Rama and Sita, in the story from the Ramayana. The story shows how good wins over evil.

Here is a brief outline of the story:
Prince Rama and his wife, Sita, are banished from their home in Ayodhya by their father the King, Rama's brother, Lakshmana, goes with them to live in a forest. They are banished for 14 years. After many happy and peaceful years, Sita is kidnapped by the ten-headed demon Ravana. He takes Sita to his island of Lanka. With the help of the monkey warrior, Hanuman, Rama rescues his wife. The people of Ayodhya, light divas ( oil lamps) in rows to guide Rama and Sita back  from the forest to Ayodhya. On their return, Rama is crowned King.

Hence, i am really looking forward to celebrating Deepavali with all my family members. However, my brother, who is secondary 4 now, can't really celebrate as the day after Deepavali is his O-Level Examination! I am so happy! Hehes i guess i am kind of evil.. :D

To everyone celebrating Deepavali, Happy Deepavali!!!!!

I did fairly well in my other three components.
The next examination was tamil. I took the higher tamil paper. I am confident of getting A1 for it.

Woodlands Waterfront

On wednesday, 28 September 2011, the school had arranged for all the Secondary 1 classes to do a CIP event at Woodlands Waterfront. We were supposed to go there and pick up the litter there. At first, when i heard about it, i was very confused as according to me, the Woodlands Waterfront was a very clean place. The school informed us that we had to walk all the way from school to the venue stated. All of us were very surprised when we heard that as the Woodlands Waterfront is quite far away from our school.

After school, we had 15 minutes to grab a bite before assembling to start our journey to Woodlands Waterfront. At 3 pm, we assembled at the quadrangle. After a headcount, the teacher in charge started releasing the classes. When our class was released, we started walking towards our destination, being led by our teachers. On our way to the Waterfront, Jun Jia, Joanna and I kept shouting at slow-walking pupils to speed up so that we could reach the venue faster. After a long distance, we reached our destination. After a quick class photo, we collected our recycling bags. We then proceeded to the area assigned to us to clear. We then split up into groups and went around clearing rubbish such as glass pieces and cigarette buds.

After around 30 mins, we went to Mr Poh, who then told us to tie up the plastic bags. We then proceeded to the playground. Mr Poh gave us permission to purchase drinks from the vending machine. However, many of us were extremely tired and sat down to rest. Some of the boys who were very excited even went and played in the playground. I was truely amazed at their vitality. After 50 mins, we were dismissed and we made our way back to school.

Upon reaching school, Mr Poh gave us permission to be dismissed after ensuring that all of us were present. I then dragged my tired and lifeless body back home.

Community Service 2011

During the September holidays this year, there was a community service program arranged for us by our CCA teachers and the church that GB is affiliated with. I actually had no idea of where we were going or what we were going to do that day. As it was a Saturday, i was a little grumpy when i woke up that morning at 6 am to get ready to go to the church to do our community service. I met some of my GB friends at Causeway Point and we made our way to the church, which is in Marsiling. After reaching the church, one of the adult volunteers there gave us some work to do, like arranging papers and preparing things for the community service.

Later on, i came to know that it was the church's Family Day and they had arranged for the people who go to the church to go to MacRitchie Reservoir for some family activities there. I was very excited as i had never gone to MacRitchie Reservoir before. After reaching the place, we started off with a walk around the park there. There was alot of nature to see there. I also got three new friends, Grace, Ruth and Kai Le. Grace and Kai Le are studying in Qi Hua Primary School. Grace is P4 while Kai Le is P2. Ruth is only 4 years old.

We had created nicknames for each other. Grace was Grapes, Kai Le was Jackfruit, Ruth was Rambutan, i was Mango and my friend, Akshayapriya, was Panda. We really bonded together and became really good friends. Even though they were much younger than us, we didn't realise the age gap, and got on very well. At the end of the day, when we all had to go home, i was very sad to leave them, especially Ruth. She was so cute and adorable that i wanted to pinch her cheeks and carry her all day long. However, reality caught up with me and i had to leave her. I really enjoyed myself that day. That day will always remain etched in my heart. ( We also saw cute little monkeys there!!!!)

MY DIFFICULTIES IN ENGLISH

This post is about my difficulties in english... In primary school, english was not a problem for me, and i scored A* for english in my PSLE. However, in secondary school, the standards are much higher, and thus much more difficult. The main problems that i have now, in english, are Summary and Comprehension.

In summary,i am not able to find the correct points that the question is asking for. Also, even if i find the correct points, i paraphrase them too much, until the main point goes missing.

In comprehension, i do not get the correct answer from the passage. I usually use my own points to answer the question. That gives me a zero for that question.

My aims, goals and achievements

I have many small and big goals and aims to achieve in my life. With the guidance and advice given by my parents, i have achieved many things in life, and i still have many things to achieve. By now, i have realised that laziness can only lead up to failure. Though many say that we should enjoy life and relax, we should not relax too much or we will rust. I am now trying my best to defeat laziness and study hard, as i may regret it later if i do not work hard now. In primary school, my CCA was Indian Dance. Well, i can say that i fair well in dancing, but i often have body aches if i practise too much. Thus, my parents are against me dancing. However, i know that they are only doing it for my own good. I have got trophies for winning dance competitons.

My ultimate aim is to become a kindergarten teacher. Even though my voice is
not loud enough to be a teacher, i will keep training myself to get a louder voice. My reason to want to become a kindergarten teacher is to inspire young minds. Furthermore, i prefer to work with small children than adults.

For now, my only focus is to study well. I hope that i will not stray from my goal. I'll end my post with a motivational poem...

Just One
Unknown

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal
One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start each journey.
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.
One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what's true,
One life can make a difference,
You see, it's up to you!
